Welcome to the Greater Manchester Neurosciences Network Website

The Network is a sub-group of the Association of Greater Manchester Primary Care Trusts established to facilitate the implementation of the National Service Framework for Long Term Neurological Conditions across the conurbation. The Network is chaired by Dr. Mike Burrows (Chief Executive for Salford PCT) and led by Julie Rigby as Network Director.

The Network aims to:

  • Articulate the vision for improving patient care within Greater Manchester Neurosciences services;
  • Improve co-ordination of commissioning and provision of health, social care and other services to enable adults with neurological conditions to achieve their potential for independence;
  • Provide an opportunity for patients and carers to influence, change and shape services through involvement in decision making processes;
  • Provide advice across the conurbation resulting from horizon and environment scanning;
  • Develop and agree strategic work programmes and assure progress on delivery;
  • Support the 10 PCTs of Greater Manchester in the development and implementation of strategies for community, secondary, tertiary and continuing care health services, in line with World Class Commissioning competencies;
  • Develop the wider Neurosciences Network.

The Network includes the whole neurosciences community: people with neurological conditions, their families and carers; commissioners; clinicians and managers, across all health, social care, independent and voluntary sector organisations.
